At Bernie's Besties, we offer a range of solo and group dog walks, as well as drop-ins and day sits for all kinds of pets. From dogs and cats to rabbits and snakes.

Want your dog to go for a walk on their own or with their roommates? Book them in for a solo walk. We can do a combo of street, park, and brain games.

We offer two types of group walks: trips to the park or off-lead secure field walks. Our walks don't just focus on fetch and running - we also include brain and nose games.

Cats, dogs, rabbits, snakes, lizards, hamsters... If you call it a pet, we can drop in on it. We'll play, give them a fuss, feed and let them out for a wee, or whatever you need us to do.

Gonna be out for the day? Don't stress, we'll keep them company at yours till you get back. If your dog is friendly, we'll happily take them with us for a day full of pals and adventure.

We believe that every pet deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and exactly the way that we'd want our Bernie to be treated in someone else's care. Our walks aren't just walks; we encourage your pooch to use their brain and nose as much as possible. We believe that mental stimulation is just as, if not more, important than physical activity.
Mental + physical activity = one completely tired pup.
It's the same for drop-in visits and day sits: we don't just let them out for a wee and give them a stroke, we try to give them something to think about as well. From scentwork to learning a new trick to going somewhere new, your dog won't be bored in our company.
Have a gander at some reviews from some happy owners with even happier pets.
Catherine & Sydney are the walkers, sitters, and wedding chaperones behind Bernie's Besties. Both are fully insured and DBS-checked. Before joining together and starting Bernie's Besties, both worked independently as dog walkers and pet sitters on Rover. Of course, there's the Big Cheese, Bernadette: a laid-back, friendly spaniel who's great at boosting the confidence of nervous dogs and pups.
We're both fully insured for dog walking and pet sitting, keeping hold of your keys, and transporting your dog.
We don't just take your pooch for a walk. We believe a walk should be a mix of physical and mental activity, with your dog encouraged to use their nose and brain, whether that be finding treats and certain scents in the woods or long grass or mini-training based pit stops. Every so often we'll pause, ask your dog for a behaviour (paw, spin, sit, beg, lay down, etc) to keep them engaged in us and excited. If we're walking your dog because you're in the office, we will, of course, give your dog an opportunity to really stretch their legs and enjoy some zoomies.
We will always treat your pet as though they are our own. If we're dropping in or sitting at your house, will make sure to leave it exactly how we found it - we won't leave a mess & we'll make sure to take our boots off outside.

As we're a small company in Essex, we only cover the following areas (plus any little villages in-between):
Wickford
Basildon (including Laindon & Pitsea)
Billericay
Stock, Howe Green, Bicknacre, Cold Norton and The Hanningfields
South Woodham Ferrers (also North Fambridge & Woodham Ferrers)
Canvey Island
Benfleet
Rayleigh (also Hullbridge and Hockley)
For group walks, we group together dogs from similar areas (as long as they all get along!)
So that all dogs, regardless of their recall ability, can run free and play till their heart's content, we do group walks in secure fields. (We also do group walks out & about in local parks for the recall pros). For these secure field walks, we currently run sessions on Tuesdays at 8am and Thursday 8am. We're looking for new locations to host more weekly sessions, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for any announcements. Prior to joining a group, we'll need to meet your dog to evaluate their suitability & learn more about them. Unfortunately, we can't take any reactive or dangerous dogs on these group walks.
For this type of group walk, we offer a block of four. This is so that the dogs in the walk become truly comfortable with their walk mates. For example, if you choose a block of four, your dog will be picked up before your chosen session for four weeks.
It costs £10 per dog (or £15 for 2 dogs from the same household) per week for individual sessions and they'll be out of the house for approximately two hours. A block of four is £40, or £60 for two dogs).
Yep! We'll let you know where we put them as well.
